Delta airlines plane crash

On February 17, 2025, a Delta Airlines flight from Minneapolis to Toronto faced an alarming incident while landing at the Toronto Pearson International Airport. The Bombardier CRJ900LR flight operated by Endeavor Air as Delta Connection Flight 4819, turned on its back on the runway at around 2:45 PM local time. Thankfully, all 80 individuals which included 76 passengers and 4 crew members managed to escape the flight. 18 were injured and 3 were critical including a child.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. However, preliminary data suggests that the weather at the time was composed of freeze strong winter wind over 50 km per hour and the snow groud. This combination stabilizes problematic landing for the airplane.

Along with eye witnesses, many passengers shared the horrifying tale of the events that took place during and after the crash. One of the survivors attempted to describe the event saying “we were hanging like bats” when the airplane flipped. Footage taken by the passengers reveals the aftermath of the event while people were trying to escape the frozen runway plane.

The emergency response teams got to the scene on time and helped with the evacuation and moved the injured to nearby hospital facilities. Deborah Flint, from the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, showed relief that there were no deaths and praised the prompt actions by the first responders.

The Canadian TSB has commenced a detailed investigation to find out what led to the crash. At the same time two of the runways at Toronto Pearson International Airport were closed which created some flight cancellations and diversions to other neighboring airports like Montreal Trudeau and Ottawa Macdonald.

This adds to other recent incidences of North America’s air safety having gaps. The authorities will probably have a draft report available in the next few days on the aspects that resulted in this shocking event.
